In scripture the church set up 3 types of servants:
Preachers- preach/teach/protect
Elders- pastor/shepherd/protect (Greg, Scott, David E, David H)
Deacons- Charlie, Jacob
"Deacon" = greek "Diakonos" = servant
Acts 6:7
1 Tim 3:8-13
**1st: Early church had deacons**
-we can't go wrong if we do it like the early church did
-once they've been tested-then let them "serve as deacons"
1 Tim 3:10
-"diakonos" =servant - were to serve as servants
**2nd: Deacons are servants of the church's physical needs**
**3rd: Deacons may be part of "discipling"**
-some view as stepping-stone to becoming an Elder.
A bit short sighted-
Acts 6:1-5. Men selected as deacons
"known to be full of the spirit and wisdom"
-They stood out-did their job so well. vs 7
*Stephen Acts 6:8-7:60
*Philip Acts 8
God holds servants as being the most important members of His kingdom
